Palestinian protesters threw rocks and firecrackers at a group of Israelis Friday night as authorities moved forces in an effort to apprehend six people accused of launching an arson attack that injured three people Sunday morning.

Two assailants fired the shots around 3 a.m. when Israeli forces surrounded a bus parked in front of a Jewish home in East Jerusalem, one of two incidents that left four Israelis and a Palestinian dead, according to a statement from the Israeli police. No further details were immediately available.

Three people with Israel's Shin Bet security service, including two boys aged 14 and 17, were detained after coming into contact with a Molotov cocktail hurled from the bus as it approached. Two others were arrested in response, police said.

A fourth suspected person, a 17-year-old boy who remains at large, also was detained by police but has not yet been charged, the statement said.

As Israeli forces moved into the street nearby to search a nearby home, several Palestinian boys climbed over a wall and threw rocks at Israeli forces, injuring at least two, Israeli police said.

Rabbi Shruti Krawczyk, who lives nearby, said the attack was the third time in a matter of weeks that people had attacked Israelis.

"This is the third time these people have come to my doorstep and tried to kill Jews," Krawczyk said. "My son was killed a month ago. When we went to a doctor because the blood was coming from a wound to his head, they told us the boy had been shot in the back and the bullet was planted on his head."

Two other Jewish residents of the Jewish neighborhood said the attackers hurled a Molotov cocktail from a car nearby and one of those inside was killed and the other was hospitalized.

The injured included two Israeli policemen, one Palestinian and an unidentified girl who was also injured. The bodies of the two officers were identified as Ahed Nezer, 26, and Ehud Yacob, 25.
